Climate Policy Mainstreaming in Ukraine: Priorities and Capacities for Ukraine´s EU path

Introductory live session for launching the online course

Climate Policy Mainstreaming in Ukraine: Priorities and Capacities for Ukraine´s EU path

Ukraine advances its path to the EU and it must align with ambitious EU climate legislation and requirements - from new approaches to market mechanisms to foreign trade rules (such as ETS or CBAM). How can this be achieved in times of war, structural reforms and profound institutional changes, including the recent merger of the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Economy?

The answer lies in a better understanding of climate policy principles, which requires new knowledge and capacity building.

To improve climate-related capacities, the Ukrainian Climate Office project implemented by GIZ, in partnership with the Green Deal Ukraїna project at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, will launch the new comprehensive e-learning course on climate policy mainstreaming. The course is fully digital, self-paced, and designed to support the professional development of Ukrainian public sector employees. The course provides practical EU-aligned knowledge in the Ukrainian language, from climate fundamentals to sectoral pathways and legal frameworks.
