Preparing for the start of CBAM: The effects on Ukraine’s economy & possible policy responses

In 2026, the EU will start the payment phase of its new Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism -  a key element of the European Green Deal. As Ukraine’s economy is highly carbon-intensive and 60-70% of Ukrainian exports are directed to the EU market, the mechanism could become highly relevant for the country.

This webinar will present the results of a recently published Green Deal Ukraina study on CBAM’s expected impact on the Ukrainian economy and its decarbonisation trajectory. Additional insights from Deloitte and a high-level panel discussion with experts and audience participation will give Ukrainian and European policy makers robust insights into what consequences can be expected from CBAM, and which policy needs occur.
