Average daily electricity supply by month (2021 - 2024)
Ukraine's electricity system has drastically changed over the past years. Electricity production and consumption dropped significantly. Nuclear generation drastically fell when Zaporizhia NPP was occupied in early 2022. The decline in thermal availability is especially striking from spring 2024. Renewables continue to play an increasing role in the summer months, relieving some of the burden of lost nuclear and thermal capacity. Formerly a net exporter (2021-22), Ukraine is now a net importer of electricity, increasingly supporting its own generation fleet with electricity flows from neighbouring EU countries
