Daily average temperature vs peak electricity demand & CHP generation

Ukraine's electricity demand is sensitive to temperature. When the temperature rises above 20°C and cooling is turned on, peak demand historically increases by about 400 MW per 1°C (based on 2019 data).

As temperatures drops below 15°C, a similar gradient is observed. Thus in 2019, at -10°C the daily peak electricity demand was >40% higher than at 17°C.
