National Energy and Climate Plan 2030 scenarios
Last week, the Government of Ukraine adopted the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) 2030, marking an important milestone in the EU integration process and significantly contributing to decarbonisation and climate policy. The NECP will also inform potential investors about Ukraine’s ambitions and strategic vision for developing its energy sector.
The document highlights that developing renewable energy generation alongside nuclear energy is among its top priorities. The provided scenarios for power generation show stable growth for both nuclear and renewable energy sources (RES) in the WEM scenario and rapid growth for RES with a gradual increase in nuclear power in the WAM scenario.
Implementing the NECP will require substantial amounts of flexible power generation, demand-side management, and energy efficiency measures, which are increasingly critical in light of the recent attacks on the Ukrainian power system
