Big milestone for Ukraine’s energy recovery!
Today, at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome, the EBRD, together with the European Commission and other partners, took a significant step forward by signing letters of intent for the Ukraine Renewable Energy Risk Mitigation Mechanism (URMM) – a tool designed to unlock investments in new renewable generation at scale.
Once implemented, the mechanism could mobilise €1.5 billion in investments and support 1 GW of new renewable capacity in Ukraine – critical progress as the country seeks to replace generation destroyed by Russia’s attacks and build a more resilient and sustainable power system.
We are proud to have contributed to shaping this initiative together with our colleagues at the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association and the European-Ukrainian Energy Agency – a process that began after last year’s URC and evolved through joint efforts with the EBRD, IFC - International Finance Corporation, and The World Bank.
We are proud that the EBRD acknowledged the contributions of the EUEA and GDU that led to this important milestone. We would also like to highlight the dedicated input of Yuri Kubrushko and the IMEPOWER team.
