The Green Deal Ukraїna team was delighted to participate in the LongNightofScience at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

Together with Georg Zachmann, Robert Carr, Olga Bondarenko and Nelly Corsten, we welcomed visitors to our stand and introduced them to the fascinating world of energy systems and modelling.

We developed a dedicated energy trivia, where participants could test their knowledge on energy systems, modelling, and Ukraine's energy sector. The response exceeded our expectations, with a constant flow of visitors eager to take part and discuss the answers.

We also presented a simplified power system model, allowing participants to experiment with different parameters and better understand how energy system models work, what assumptions they rely on, and how different inputs can influence outcomes. It was wonderful to see such curiosity and engagement with a topic that is often perceived as highly technical.

What impressed us most was the incredible interest of visitors throughout the evening. We were delighted to see so many people at HZB, asking thoughtful questions and engaging in discussions about science, energy, and the future of our energy systems.

The event was also a great reminder of the openness and enthusiasm of HZB scientists, who shared their research and expertise with the public throughout the evening.

A special thank you to the HZB organisational team for putting together such a wonderfully organised event. The scale of the programme, the smooth organisation, and the welcoming atmosphere made it a truly memorable experience.

We are already looking forward to the next Long Night of Science!
