The Summer Module of the ProGreenDeal for Local Communities program came to an end

On June 20 in Vinnytsia, the Summer Module of the ProGreenDeal for Local Communities program came to an end — the final practical stage of the second iteration of our work with communities.

The Summer Module of the ProGreenDeal for Local Communities program came to an end

A total of 45 territorial communities from across Ukraine participated, with representatives from 32 communities attending in person. Over five days, participants worked on concrete solutions to strengthen their communities' energy resilience, shaping their vision, setting priorities, and developing documents that will form the foundation for future action.

The participants worked in three thematic clusters:

  • developing project proposals for donors,
  • drafting Energy Management Action Plans,
  • and preparing Municipal Energy Plans (MEPs).

Each community defined a key question to address and presented its progress on that question. Participants calculated energy balances, created stakeholder maps, worked with problem and goal trees, drafted local council decisions, and explored opportunities for implementing their ideas.

On the final day, communities presented the results of their work in a series of concise pitches.

Topics included:

  • creating youth-focused energy spaces;
  • innovative approaches to developing MEPs;
  • thermal modernisation of educational institutions;
  • launching energy management systems;
  • engaging citizens in energy efficiency efforts.

We thank all participants for their dedication, insightful contributions, and strong team spirit. Your presentations clearly show that communities are ready to move from planning to action.

The program was developed and is implemented jointly by Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, the Florence School of Regulation, and the Kyiv School of Energy Policy.
