Reconstruction will not begin on day one after a ceasefire or peace treaty; it is taking place every day.
The article looks at how Ukraine's recovery is already taking place despite the ongoing war, how the country has evolved from a recipient of support to a partner in many areas, and why the foundations for future reconstruction are being built today. It also highlights the importance of research, education, energy cooperation and close coordination between European partners in supporting Ukraine's recovery and EU accession.
