Energy and Climate Leadership Training
This comprehensive three-week online training programme covers the essentials of EU energy- and climate legislation, policy, governance, markets, security of supply, and sustainability. The course aims to support the next generation of energy and climate leaders in Ukraine and Moldova, to allow them to drive their countries’ energy transition and EU accession.
The course consists of a self-paced online component, with about 10 hours of work per week, as well as three live sessions covering security of supply, market coupling, and the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
Successful participation and the awarding of a certificate require presence in 80% of the programme, as well as successful completion of a final assignment. Lecturers include experts, practitioners, and academics from both Ukraine and the EU.

Recruitment and Selection Phase
The programme welcomes applications from early- and mid-career professionals working in energy and climate fields across Ukraine and Moldova. Applicants are encouraged to apply through the open call.

Online Training Programme
Participants will engage with the course material through the dedicated online e-learning platform, where they will have access to the self-paced digital modules and interactive live sessions.

Final Assignment
Participants will be assigned a role and prepare for a live, Zoom-based role-playing session. The session will last 1.5 hours.
To prepare for the final assignment, participants must:
- Participants will participate in a final assignment at the end of the program.
- Participants will then receive their diplomas.
What to expect
After successful completion of the programme, participants will be awarded a certificate of KECLab, delivered by the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB), the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA), and the Kyiv School of Energy Policy (KSEP).
Participants will gain a robust network of energy experts through an active alumni network and in-person events, like the Green Deal Ukraїna annual high-level policy event held in Kyiv.
Finally, participants will become valued members of our community and will receive exclusive invitations to participate in various activities hosted by these esteemed institutions.
Who is eligible
We are looking for participants with impact in the energy- and climate sector. They may be early career or more senior professionals. Typical participants represent government, ministries, regulatory agencies, parliament, the corporate sector, think tanks, academia, or NGOs. The ideal candidate resides in Ukraine or Moldova, though exemptions are possible.
We are looking for participants with some professional experience in the field of energy, at least a B1 level of English, and a clear vision of why they wish to participate in the programme.
Selection will be carried out by an international panel.
