Presentation of the study: "Structural shifts will shape Ukraine’s energy and climate future - Lessons from the EU accession of Poland and Romania”
Presenters:
Georg Zachmann – Scientific Lead at GDU Project
Mykola Iakovenko – Energy Policy Officer at GDU Project
Green Deal Ukraїna presents a new study on the possible structural shifts in Ukraine’s national economy, climate and energy efficiency trends related to EU integration and post-war recovery – taking into account the experience of Poland and Romania on their way to EU accession. The two country cases analysed in the study prove that numerous non-linear shifts may take place with the active integration of the transitional economies to the internal EU market and progress with the relevant reforms. This may also dramatically change the energy intensity and GHG emissions and impact the consumers’ habits leading to a better energy efficiency at both macro- and microlevels.
The overall idea of the study is to inform relevant policy-makers, industries and modelers on the potential developments in Ukraine’s post-war recovery, which will result in better approach to modelling and policy design. We would appreciate any comments and feedback on this study and looking forward for cooperation
