The Potential of Ukraine-EU Biomethane Cooperation
Ukraine has recently made biomethane a priority, seeing a high potential for export to the EU, among others. The country adopted a regulation in August 2024 that allows Ukrainian biomethane producers to export to the European Union through the country's gas transmission system, which is connected to four EU countries at interconnection points.
GIZ, Green Deal Ukraїna, and Forum Energii have published a report (link) on the potential of Ukraine-EU biomethane cooperation and are pleased to present it through this webinar, where panellists will share their perspectives and participants are invited to contribute to this webinar actively. We want to focus on the potential and obstacles as well as solutions for biomethane trade between the EU and Ukraine.

Topics for discussion:
- What are the prospects for biomethane imports from Ukraine
- Is it profitable to import biomethane from Ukraine?
- Doesn't Ukraine need biogas and biomethane for its own consumption, and therefore won't have a surplus?
- Is there political will on the part of the EU and Ukraine to enable biomethane exports?
