Ukraine`s share of total EU imports of selected critical raw materials by year
Over the last decade, the three critical raw materials (CRMs) shown here accounted for 0.14-0.27% of Ukraine’s total exports to the EU (by value; UN Comtrade). Looking deeper into the EU import lens in volume terms, we illustrate Ukraine’s share (%) of EU imports of the selected CRMs.
While Ukraine remains visible for titanium ores & concentrates, its role in natural graphite is small and declining, and manganese ores & concentrates have effectively ceased, reflecting constraints in EU-aligned CRM supply chains. We discuss these issues and ways to address them in our recent paper: “Critical raw materials in the energy transition: Assessing Ukraine’s potential for EU supply chains”.
