Scientific Center of NaUKMA Kyiv Energy and Climate Lab (KECLab)
Kyiv Energy and Climate Lab (KECLab)
is an independent scientific and educational centre established jointly by Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin (HZB) and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy (NaUKMA).
KECLab strengthens Ukraine’s capacity for evidence-based energy and climate policy, system analysis, and academic education, with a strong focus on energy security, decarbonisation, and EU integration.
Building on the work of the Green Deal Ukraїna project, KECLab conducts data-driven research and modelling, provides policy-relevant analysis and advice, and develops academic and vocational training programmes for public institutions, researchers, and the next generation of energy and climate experts. The Lab serves as a platform linking Ukrainian and European expertise and contributes to informed decision-making during wartime, reconstruction, and Ukraine’s long-term transformation toward a resilient, EU-aligned energy system.
Goals of the Lab
- Promote academic excellence in energy and climate research in Ukraine;
- Conduct scientific research and provide recommendations for UA and EU policymakers, experts, and the general public on Ukraine's path to the EU;
- Prepare a new generation of scientists and experts: Master’s program in Energy and Climate, PhD program and certificate programs.
